Importance of Employee Satisfaction versus Consumer Satisfaction for an Organisation

When the question is raised, whether a company or an organisation should be either in the welfare of its employees or its customers, a number of assumptions are made by the people. The customer is the benefactor of the organisation whereas the employee is the driving force of the organisation.

The Debate Is On!

Evidently, an organisation owes it to both its customers as well as its employees; but the organisations nowadays focus more on customer satisfaction than employee satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is the sole motive of any organisation in today’s world although employee satisfaction is equally important but avoided most often. The employees, no doubt, in any organisation work towards the betterment and growth of the organisation; they are treated as slaves or somebody who is a captive to the authorities. Despite the long working hours, the competition among colleagues, the low wages, and the misdemeanor by the superiors; the wage earners work as laborious as they can to take the organisation to the top. The organisations owe it to their employees to treat them as one of their own and not someone whom they have bought out with their money. The employees in today’s world have huge responsibilities outside the workplace; they have to manage home affairs, monetary affairs and so on. Thus, they need a break from work when they are at home. The employers need to ensure that their employees get enough time to take the load off their shoulders. The employees represent the organisation to the world. The customer satisfaction is directly linked to the employee satisfaction as satisfied employees can only attract the customers towards the organisation. Employers have a moral duty towards their employees to keep them happy and satisfied at all times so as to ensure a good conduct of the operations in the organisation. A working atmosphere needs to be filled with fun, joy and a sense of ownership of the organisation. An employee who thinks of the organisation as his life, lines in with the objective of the organisation and thinks of his colleagues and superiors as his family can take the organisation to heights beyond imagination.
